I am rejoicing, as I finally own a microphone. After all this time, I finally decided to invest in a decent recording mic. So after bending over my local Guitar Center with price-matches and coupons, I came home the proud new owner of an Audio Technica AT2020 cardioid condenser microphone. Coupled with a Blue Icicle and a little stand, I was all set, and knew I had to record something tonight.

Now, a fair bit of warning. I'm not the best singer in the world, but I'm hoping this new acquisition will help me become more proficient. I'm also new to recording in general, much less recording vocals, so I'm still playing around and trying to figure things out.

As you all know, I'm a little obsessed with James Horner, but this song and this film are very special to me, and American Tail has made a lasting impression on me since I saw it in theaters when I was in preschool. It's safe to say my love of Don Bluth and James Horner started here. The version I recorded was the "mouse" version, ie it was the one sung by Fievel and his sister Tanya in the film, and not the pop version that blew the lid off the charts back in '86.
