how to kill zombies: the downunder edition
you have to be made of some 'tuff stuff' to ward off the apocalypse and kill hundreds of zombies in a nation where guns ARENT avalable at every corner store. down here in Australia many people have firearms but none of a significant calibre, not nearly enough to lay down a hoard of zombies... even though there are only a potencial 20 million zombies in australia. its pathetic... HOWEVER if you have a working brain, THIS is how i say you should kill shit when bullets are rare as hell and zombies are fairly low in consentration. or infact anywhere really that has an incredibly short suply of high powered weaponary
use a bow! flex those mad archery skills!!
they are nearly silent and can kill things with one shot at close range usualy, and can get some serious range out of them if you know what the hell you are doing. if they dont kill first shot then it will pin them to the nearest vertical surface. if you run out of arrows its as easy as finding anything long and straight, sharpening one end and stickign a feather in the other, sure its not perfect but atleast your never limited by having to find bullets that fit your gun and then hoping to got the next clip in your pocket has some in it

one pair of shades
one stockman's hat
one 80 pound, PEARSON compound hunting bow

in theory it a good but practically , a bow wont do much to a zombie , bullets cause cavitation blowing out chunks of meet ,or brain out of a zombie, even if you hit a zombie between the eyes , it won't do much. just turn tall dark and undead in to a pin cushion.
Vampires on the other hand , wooden arrows or silver arrowheads will do damage especially if you hit said strategic location

i can see why you think that... i had the same thoughs at one point. but if you think about it an arrow has much more weight and mass begind it than any bullet, if it had a hunting tip with thorns the damage caused could be very extensive. it could rip open an organ.. and when you take the zombie down you can go up and forcibly remove the arrows doing even further damage and replenishing your supply of ammunition at the same time
velocity counts for a lot , a small projectile moving at the speed of sound will do much more damage , zombies feel no pain , they will keep on going until you blow there head off.
note you don't want to come anywear close to zombie fluids unless you want to get infected yourself

i knew you had to be an archer because you braught that issue to light. and you do make a good point. it would probably be bad to reuse arrows that have struck a zombie.
though it is true that a bullet from an M16 would do more damage than an arrow they would still be more effective than a 9mm. the stealth aspect of a bow is also a good bonus, you could walk up behind a zombie and nail his head to the nearest wall from short range. i still believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and it is definetly better than having absolutly nothing at all

i agree , anything is better than nothing at all
but if it any consolation , i would take a good bow over an m16 any day , m16 are too hi velocity and finicky to do the damage you need
my choice of weapons would be an ak47 reliable and makes big ugly holes , shotgun with dear slugs and some sort of hand cannon like a magnum.
i would file the tips of my bullets for maximum zombie splatter .
but if it any consolation , i would take a good bow over an m16 any day , m16 are too hi velocity and finicky to do the damage you need

but if a zombie apocalypse suddenly struck.. it would be my local hardware store that i would raid first.. for self-compressing nail guns and duct tape... i can lay down SOO many more rounds with that... a couple of boxes of 10,000 nails in my pocket and a couple of good batteries... that's all a survivor would need coupled with an 80 pounder like this he'd be unstopable

if your vehicle of choice was somethign large like a Kenworth then you could charge your batteries straight off the engine or even better.. build a rolling fortress and have a generator on the back... it wouldnt be scilent but it would sure be effective.... especialy downunder where we can hook up 3 or more trailers to one truck
