I'll give you a hint that'll get you through your classes if you ever decide to work in a steam powerplant. The thing that makes steam so powerful is in the way it's able to expand in volume. The whistles on the Queen Mary attraction at Long Beach CA are rigged up to run on compressed air, and they can be heard about three miles away. When the whistles were run on steam though, they could be heard Twelve to Eighteen miles away.

'Cause they're made to run on steam, silly. Look up "External Combustion," Vs "Internal Combustion." You may find the basic mechanical principals are the same, but Internal Combustion engines require less time to start up "Cold."

Thats very true. I like both Steam Engines and Internal Combustion engines.
