You're being spiked by enemy radar!

Remember, the cannon is slightly offset to the (pilot's) left - the rightmost barrel is the firing position, and is directly on-axis with the craft's 'spine'. They also added a night-vision camera to one of the instrument pods on the wings. :D

I kinda <3 the A-10; axial cannons are a peculiar soft spot of mine.
