It was always hard for little Pinkie Pie every time Granny had to leave. She'd haul her cart away, through the Pie Farm gate to the road outside, take off her saddle blanket, unfurl her wings, take to the skies, and get smaller and smaller as she flew farther and farther away, until she and her cart were nothing but a speck... and then she was gone.

Um, we're talking about Granny Pie, who has not been seen on the show at all. Her character design here was entirely invented by me. My comment "perhaps she's Surprise's aunt or cousin" is a short way of saying "I haven't invented a relationship between Granny Pie and Surprise, but if I did I'd probably make her an aunt or cousin or something". :}
I meant in context of the show, not your comic.
If the creators of FIM wanted to get around the G1 barriers this would be a neat way to go around it, create an amalgam character sort of like your original character.
So in that context my commentary is a compliment, G1 fans would note she is a Pegasus and associate her with G1 Surprise.
