Personalities: Wynne "Messing With Color"
I was talking with Wynne yesterday and serendipitously ran across a con-sketch of her done by
EWS Eric Schwarts, on E621. For whatever reason i decided that it would be amusing to practice my coloring on it, since it might be fun and I like poking at Wynne. It's about 50/50 Photoshop and SAI, and I found a tutorial online for cel-shading in SAI (since Eric's cartoon style lends itself to cel-shading), and I hacked away at it. It's definitely not very smooth or professional, but as learning experiences go, it turned out quite well. I'm not sure I can use this technique on my own work, but every little bit you learn is a little something more you can adapt.
(Wynne gave me permission to post it, in case anyone was wondering)

The cel-shading around her skirt area is AMAZING. Hell, the whole outfit. Really makes it look skin (fur?) tight and sexy. Though I feel like the shadows in the middle of her face are a little too strong, or perhaps not as sharp/clean. Still, I'd consider this a VERY successfully colored piece, and I'd love to see you do more of it.
Though you're right to hesitate when it comes to cel-shading and your own art style. I do feel like softer shadows would work better with your stuff, but you could always try a similar coloring technique to this, just with a much softer brush. ^_^
Either way, I love what you've done here. :D

Based on Wynne Patton, since that's the mouse it's a drawing of. It might have stylistic similarities to Eric's chinchilla-gal Carli since that's how he draws rodents. The body colors are vaguely based on the character's coloring on SecondLife, the clothing colors were my own doing.
While I know Daremo, I'm afraid I'm not familiar the character of his you mentioned, though I assume that if he has a chinchilla, Eric has probably drawn her, since he and Eric are friends; which means that Wynne, Carli and this other character might have visual similarities when drawn in Eric's style.
