Commission I did for
jinxcole
This was a lot of fun to do. First gun I think I've ever drawn, which is sad now that I think about it. Like with Partran's image I had a background to do, which is pretty rare for me.
I'm willing to say (up till these past two commissions) I do one or less pictures a year that have a background. Don't hold me to that tho.
Fav's, questions and comments always welcome. ^^
However no critiques on commissions, per-usual. If you want to critique, feel free to note me. Just not in the comment section please.

I was watching this conversation, but now I need to interject. The way you so light heartfelt speak about getting shot makes you seem like you know nothing about so, so instead of trying to seem cool and basses an like you know about this stuff, can it and enjoy the art. Otherwise you sound like you're just talking out your ass. Respect the people who live this situation, especially if ou are one of those people.
It's cool to respect and all, but just keep in mind that some people don't take this situation as light hearted, you know? I don't mean to step on toes and I'm sure it can be fun sometimes, just try to see how people see a subject, too before you shoot on it with a joke, you know? <3
I've never been over there so I can't sympathize with the experience, but my brother-in-law is currently deployed and I can see how worried my sister is about him so from that perspective, I can understand the sentiment of not really enjoying someone making light of a very serious situation.
That being said I really don't see the point in getting annoyed with a person who is obviously trying to make a simple joke and clearly had no intention of insulting or demeaning anyone. Save it for the people who really are trying to badmouth the good men and women who are risking their lives for us.

I dunno about that. Sort of hard to solve internal bleeding, punctured lungs, severed arteries, and broken bones right there in a combat zone. And that's assuming that the guy who you let shoot you for some strange reason leaves you for dead rather than makes sure he finishes the job, takes your gear, and drags your now dead naked body through the streets to celebrate.
The recevier of the weapon is good, but mirrored, almost like it was a weapon designed for lefties. Theres no dust cover, extraction port, forward assist, all features that should be on the right side of the weapon, the bolt catch should be on this side, you've just made a big mess of the upper and lower recievers
Critiques in notes please. (Don't bother sending one now tho since you posted here anyways)
I know next to nothing about guns, but if I've drawn it backwards that actually makes me quite sad that I would overlook that.
A quick and easy fix would be simply flipping the image. I'll talk with Cole and see what he wants me to do about it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much hun. Just flip the image so it's the correct way or redo it like i know you will since it will bother the hell out of you. It is a shame that you worked so hard on that in particular only to not be told of the mistake even when the commissioner noticed it before it was done. I suppose a lot of people don't know you're a perfectionist and don't like to leave things incorrect.
As far as the comment above is concerned. Going to the guy's page, there's nothing of substance so just ignore him altogether. That with the can't read and nothing positive to say or help with the problem just makes him appear to be an ass. Fine with me. You still did a great job, more so then most artists on here would have done.

I wouldnt say thank you since he did nothing but complain about how the gun isnt right and had nothing to say about anything else on the piece. This is super gorgeous and it's a shame that gun enthusiasts think that everyone knows how to take apart and put together a gun and if something is missing than the picture is nonsense. Guns aren't like most things, looking at a picture of a gun doesnt help an artist understand it at ALL unless they can hold it and look at it for themselves..and thats pretty hard to do. If the commissioner didn't say anything about it and they are happy about it than I would just leave it as it is. It's amazing and you shouldnt feel any less.
Just an FYI they do make fully left handed versions of the M4, M16, and AR15. I know this because I am a firearms instructor and my father and my uncle both own one. Left handed uppers are a dime a dozen. It's just hard and rare to find Left handed lowers as well, they are out there just a pain in the ass to get them, mainly because of Parts, the fully left handed rifles, some of the parts on the lower are not interchangeable with other m4's/m16's/ar15's. thus most will put a left handed upper on a standard lower receiver.

Hmm, I haven't been quite able to master a digital camo texture as it doesn't look quite right for me... but practice and the right technique, I suppose.
I also just wanted to tell you how inspirational this picture is to me. This is the level that I want my art eventually be like. I can't stop looking at it haha. I've got to start learning how to actually digitally paint... not just draw the lines and colour them in.

For being the first gun you have ever done, I'll echo what Iarann said (above), "Even if it is backwards the detail on the rifle is amazing. You have all the lines and levers right where they should be." I am not a gun person, but your rendering is simply beautiful.
As for the background *jaw drops in awe* you could have posted just that and it would have been wildly faved. It really comes across as be a hot, dry arid environment.
*standing applause*

I post it to share my art, not necessarily for critiques. ^^
The reason I say no critiques in comments is because 90% of people don't know how to give a proper critique. I've actually had a commissioner get upset in the past because of something someone has said. So to avoid this I simply ask for them to go into notes.
