it is much easier to be a slug than to be a man or an ape or a dog even

less to do, less distance to cover (a slug is not obligated to look others in the eye when speaking. most people and beings are unsure where a slug's optical bits can be found. a slug on the roof will most likely shrivel up. rooting through the tall grass for slugs i came upon a rusted sword driven through a raven's skull and brought it back across the plains and wastelands to the last encampment of my people. a slug in town is largely ignored. you do not know about all the slugs in and around your garden. avoid salt. you are unaware of the thousands of slugs in the garden, under the house, under the carpet, in the walls, driven out at night by the heat and the disappointment and making their slow slick way up and over your sleeping body like blind and desperate pilgrims, searching for answers to unknown questions.

tiger slugs actually appear in and around my house at random (less often than spiders, gnats) this is relevant to my Real Life
