So my dermal broke... again. And we still aint got my computer running so I've been outside in the barn trying to figure out what it is I wanna make.
Then I remembered that the creek in front of this place it quite rich in clay deposits. So I've been making things like this.
It's a pipe for those who are wondering. You smoke from the tail and the bowl is in the head. It's not been fired yet so this is what it looks like unbaked. I'ma dig a pit and fire it after I get a few more done.
Any requests?

Wow that was fast.
They take a small while to make and bake. I'm not sure about the fireing process yet, I'm not 100% on it's useability.
Tell you what, Let me make up a few more. You want a gator one I assume? Let me try a few glazes on them and see if this type of clay is even able to be fired, if not I'll get my hands on some proper earthenware and make you one know is good to use.
This may take a few weeks, can you wait that long?

Well I'll try my hand at making one. If it bakes like it should and turns out well, I'll sell it to you.
I don't know about deailed colorings on it. If it even bakes the colors I out on it at all. I don't have a kiln so I have to fire these in a pit but so I hear tell doing it that way tends to turn them black. But as I said, I need to test a few fires before I can sell them for sure.

OMG! if i wasn't saving i'd throw some money at you! this is freakin awesome!
I remember making something similar, except it was a topsian species and his horn was the bowl and his nostrils were the carb(so you pinched his nose to build smoke). He worked, but sculpy is the worst for making pipes.

I personally would not recommend these pipes for smoking out of. Even with being glazing I can't tell you for sure if it has *a small amount of* hazardous elements in it, like lead and other heavy metals. After all, I dug this clay out of the creek so one one's really sure what's in it.
A smoke every now and then in all likelihood wont harm you, but I can't say what long term exposure will do.
Plus these are very decorative pipes. It's more meant to be added to a collection then used everyday, it may mess it up.
With those warnings aside, do you have any particular animal you would like to see made into a pipe?
