More old shizz: at some point during my work on St. Harryhausen's Academy, it dawned on me that even a private school has, y'know, STUDENTS, people in the background, and the very premise of the Academy setting pretty much negated the use of generic background figures, so I started designing some random monster-teens to populate the school. This, by the by, is what prompted the creation of my Random Kaijumorph Generator tables ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/281745/ )...
Anyway, here's a handful of the kids I made: a genie (whom my filename indicates is named "Deej" for some reason), an ant-boy (probably a reference to the 50's giant ant movie "THEM!"), a little spider girl, an octopus girl who apparently needs to re-dye her hair, and a monkey girl that was going to probably be Joey the Ape-Boy's kid sister. The genie kinda breaks the "rule" about "no magic in the Academy Universe," but, eh, it was more of a guideline anyway...

Reminds me of my own interpretation of Daikaiju High back when I wrote K-girl fanfics.
Basically, if you were a DKH student and you WEREN'T a kaijumorph, you probably had superpowers. Or you owned a mech suit. Or you were good with guns. Basically, you were NOT a normal teenager by ANY definition.
And yeah, I too would come up with such characters for no other reason than to serve as background filler. Even though background filler isn't as important in fanfics as they are in comics.

I think, ultimately, I decided it would affect girls more than boys...I think the half-assed rationale was that puberty puts way more physical stress on a female body, so it was more likely to trigger the virus...but, honestly, there's more female characters because A} the Academy was ORIGINALLY an all-girls school until I got ticked off over Kim back at TKT for some reason and started making boy characters, and B} I just like drawing girls way more than boys.
I found a huge stack of my old sketchbooks recently and there are a few unscanned students as well, but since, as you can tell here, they mostly started falling into furry/anthro territory, I guess I didn't bother developing them past rough initial sketches.
