BTW, that sleeping ladybug thing is BugBug (fucking brilliant name, I know). See, I'd toyed with a joke idea for original!Maisy based on Mazinger-Z's Jet Scrander flight pack: the reason why Maisy never used hers was because it was less a useful piece of hardware and more a disobedient over-excitable pet prone to dragging Maisy helplessly through the air. BugBug was a riff on that idea, only it also served as a laptop computer (the only way the faculty would allow a student to own a sentient jetpack) and something of a pet to Maisy as well as allowing her access to her full combat capabilities which were otherwise tuned down in order to discourage nuking the school bullies...
