Finally! another bat picture! 8D And this time, THE INFAMOUS VAMPIRE BAT. <3
They are freakin cute!
NOW, FOR ME TO BREAK SOME MYTHS ABOUT VAMP BATS, AND GIVE MORE INTERESTING FACTS THAT I ADORE. <3
-Vamp bites RARELY bite humans for blood (and it's usually on the foot with a small incision.
-They usually feed on pigs, cows, chickens... mostly farm animals. They'll make a quick cut with their incisors and then lap up the blood with their tongue. They do NOT "suck" blood. That's FALSE. It also doesn't hurt the animal.
-Out of the 1,000+ species of bat, there are only three kinds of vampire bats.
-Two of the three mainly drink the blood of birds
-Vamp bats can walk, run, and jump!
-Female vamp bats will regurgitate to another less-fortunate bat if need be. They share. <3 In exchange, they'll get some grooming.
-They will also adopt any orphaned vamp bats, too.
-They have very good eyesight!
-They are very clean animals.

yay bats! <3 always happy to see more spreading the good words about bats, such awesome lil critters! (then i may be alittle biased, being a bat furry and all!)

bats groom themselves more than cats do! wich is prolly why they are so clean and fuzzy
bats toe muscles work in reverse to that of normal animals, when they are relaxed the muscles pull there toes tightly shut
some bats will often stay behind if another bats foot is stuck to make sure that they are alright
bats cannot take off from the ground like birds, and must first gain the momentum for flight by droping down from someplace up high!
bat colonys often employ a "town cryer" who lets out a unique cry every so often, this bat is randomly selected each night/day the rest of the colony sleeps

Bats become more amazing the more I learn about them. <3 How can people NOT like them? There's SO much more good about them than bad. The good outNUMBERS the bad (being maybe a couple of bats have rabies... but so do other creatures. >8C FFFF and the stupid myths out there.)

i read about it in an article that specialized in the research about the noises that bats make. how baby bats much like human babys will babble to stretch there vocal cords. and during sweet bat love the male will make a unique noise..wich i could only guess was some sort of "talkin dirty" to his lady friend
