The lastest addition to the motive power roster at the Big South Fork Scenic Railway in Stearns, KY. K&T #106 is former Seaboard Coast Line power and was purchased a couple of seasons ago when the passenger load for the railroads two ALCO S-1's #102 & #105 got to be too much.
#106 now handles the trains during heavy tourist periods (like the fall foliage trips) while the ALCO's are now only used during special events. On my trip this engine was pushing seven fully loaded cars up a 3% grade.
