thats not a chain fence, its more like a guiding line that you can grab on to to help with the hike up the mountain.

Also mountain hikes hardly ever have fences.

derp, it also functions as a warning rather then an actual saftey measure

They put the chain up as something to hold on to while you're climbing. You go allll the way up. If feels like you're climbing the floating mountains in Avatar. Apparently people die on this hike fairly often, so that's why they installed the chain. I actually work with someone who's husband and brother had to be Life-Flighted off. They were cam climbing and fell half-way and got pretty banged up!

haha, well I went with a friend who was VERY scared of heights, so I told him this: technically, you can ONLY fall off one side, so there goes half the risk! He was not amused
