Two summers ago I raised a dozen Bobwhite quail in my back yard.
I got them from a local man in town who was raising them to be released into the wild. They are such fragile creatures and most don't make it to adulthood, but out of the dozen I raised we only lost one.
We used an old turtle-trap as a cage for them and we converted our old sandbox into a pen. After three months, they were ready to be let go. We didn't hear or see any of them until a few weeks after when some were found dead near someones farm. But I wholeheartedly believe that they live on.
This is one the few photographs that we have of them unfortunately, but the memories of that summer are still fresh in my mind.
