What is Soulhate? Glad you asked. Soulhate is a fae concept, involving a bond between two fae who are destined to have a lifelong deep and meaningful mutually antagonistic relationship. True Soulhate is incredibly rare, and thus Soulhates almost never try to kill each other, preferring instead to torment and be tormented by an equal. They bring out the worst in each other, and delight in it.

Only one Soulhate pair are born every several generations and Soulhate is deeply respected (and envied) in their culture. For a third party to intervene - especially to make an attempt on the life of one of them - is unthinkable. Not just as a social faux-pas because not only is this treading on a fae's toes, Soulhates are mana-linked and the death of one is almost guaranteed to kill the other. The mana link also allows them to use each others 'pool' of magical energy when they have exhausted their own.

To humans this kind of relationship is difficult to define and may outwardly seem somewhat like a hate-based 'bromance'.
