The 'sol'/'sole'/day pun is entirely my fault. Please don't take it out on
kalira9, who made this wonderful piece. :)
It all started back last year some time when I commissioned Kalira to do some drawings, one of each of my characters (Rooth'roo and Rooth'ragon). I liked them all, but the Aram pose was the most appealing to both of us. She wanted to color it, which she did, and I wanted to build a scene around the pose. Macro, of course, 'cause Aram just likes to be a big monk ninja thing when the situation calls for it. ;)
Here she is guarding her monastery against some intruders. And judging from the camera angle, she may be facing down a sizable opponent. But she's very much married to her monastery, and doesn't take kindly to threats against it.
This, btw, is Kalira's best background to date, by her own admission. She found the scene I described daunting, as she claims she's never been good with buildings, but I suggested she use 3DSmax to help model and set up the scene with the angles and whatnot (she had already been using 3DSmax to make a model of Rooth as a separate commission). The wedding of her skillz in 3DS with her digital art skillz resulted in this lovely background, and a big step forward for her, I'm told. ^_^
