Chapter 4: Time Travel
Psychic jumped up from his headset. “We’ve got a live one, guys! Celebi in Ilex Forest. Look for Dark’s signal on the radar. Get the trackers loaded!”
“I’ve still got a shot or two from the Entei run! I’ll head out now and meet you there!” shouted Ice. He hopped on the motorcycle and sped off. Poison got in the car and started up the engine. Psychic grabbed a few guns and some equipment and lunged into the car. Poison hit the gas pedal before Psychic had time to close the door.
Ice grabbed the interface on the dashboard and put it over his ear. Suddenly, a radar popped up displaying his current location and how far he was from everyone else. He could see the opening to Ilex Forest just up ahead. He sped through the building and turned his bike hard to the left. He missed the oncoming trees by just a few feet. “I’m closing in on Dark!” Ice shouted into his radio microphone, “Do we still have a visual on Celebi?”
“I’ve still got him, but he’s speeding away from me. He caught me on foot, so I’m about 40 or 50 feet out from him right now!”
“I should be at your position in about 30 seconds! Hang on until then!” He hit the accelerator and sped through the forest. He saw a flash of green to his right. “I’ve got a visual on the target! I’m intercepting as we speak!” He pulled out a pokeball. “Bronzong, use Block!” A blue bell-like creature appeared and stopped in front of the green blur. However, Ice was still accelerating, so he turned his bike around and let it slide to a halt, then hit the accelerator to get back to the two. The creature in front of him was indeed Celebi. The air suddenly warped, and sent Bronzong flying back. He saw a woman in a black dress and long, black hair rushing up to them. “Dark, send out Weavile and use False Swipe!”
“I can’t! I’ve only got my Bronzong! All my other pokemon are at the center!”
“Then send it out and use Block! I’ll switch mine out. Go!”
“Bronzong, block!”
“Bronzong, return. Go Luxray!”
Celebi made a dash away from the two, but a red light surrounded it, holding it in place. Dark’s Bronzong had successfully used Block. Luxray roared. “Luxray, use Crunch!” cried Ice. Luxray bit down on Celebi. Celebi let out a scream. It was a super-effective move, after all. Suddenly, the forest started spinning. “What’s going on?” asked Dark. Ice saw Poison and Psychic speeding toward them when everything disappeared in a flash of light. When the light reappeared, Dark and Ice were standing on the slope of a mountain. “Where are we?” asked Dark. “I think the question we should be asking is, WHEN are we?” replied Ice. He hurried up the slope to the top. When he reached the top, he was looking down into a pool of lava. “I think we’re on Mount Chimney!” cried Ice. The mountain suddenly started shaking. Ice fell back down to Dark. Celebi flew off. Dark reached into the motorcycle and grabbed the gun. She aimed as best she could with the shaking and fired. The shot hit Celebi and it disappeared. The lava suddenly spewed over the side. “Staraptor, Fly Dark out of here! Luxray, return!” for some reason, the pokeballs didn’t respond. “This isn’t good! Let’s get out of here!” He grabbed his bike and jumped on. “Luxray, carry Dark on your back!” they then sped down the mountain. Ice saw the lava quickly approaching. “We need to get on some sort of platform!” said Dark. Ice looked around and saw a level patch of rock some ways down the mountain. “Over there! Quickly!” They raced onto the rock and the lava spewed to the side. Suddenly, a figure raced over the lava. “That’s… ENTEI!” Ice yelled. “He appears whenever a volcano erupts,” murmured Dark. Entei let out a roar when it reached the top of the mountain. The volcano responded by erupting lava. Suddenly it looked down and saw Ice and Dark. It let out a blast of fire towards the two. “Bronzong!” yelled Dark. Ice tried to stop her, but Bronzong had already blocked the attack. It tumbled to the ground, fainted. Against a steel-type, fire based moves are super-effective. It suddenly shined white and disappeared. Entei was stunned. He charged down the mountain towards the two. It stopped in front of them. Luxray took a step forward, but Ice blocked him with his hand. Entei let out another roar. “We don’t want to hurt you,” said Ice, “but attack us and we’ll be forced to defend against you!”
“Why are you here?!?” Entei roared. Both Ice and Dark were stunned. “It can talk?”
“Of course I can talk! Now answer me, why are you in this time? You are not supposed to be here!”
“Celebi sent us into this time. We don’t know why we’re here,” replied Ice.
“I see. So Celebi sent you here. Leave this place now or suffer my wrath!”
“We’d love to, but as you can see, we’re stuck on this mountain with no way down.” Entei walked to the edge of the rock and looked down the mountain. He stomped his foot and the lava suddenly parted, creating a pathway down the mountain. “Now leave and never return!” Dark made her way over to Luxray and headed down the mountain. Ice paused for a moment.
“I said go, human!”
“Thank you,” said Ice. Entei was confused. “I created a path for you so you could flee. You do not need to thank me for that,” he replied.
“No. Thank you for saving my life.”
“What?”
“Not now. But later, in another time. I was trapped on Mount Coronet and I was going to freeze to death. But you showed up and saved my life. All this time I’ve wanted to thank you for it. And… please, Entei, let me talk to you! You keep racing across the land, and I’ve never had the chance to-”
“GO, HUMAN! Or suffer my wrath!” Ice walked over to his bike and got on. “I won’t fight you, Entei,” said Ice, “Just remember that.” He hit the accelerator and sped down the mountain. Entei watched him descend down the mountain, “He’s not like the others,” he muttered to himself.
Ice rode around for a bit. He couldn’t find where Luxray and Dark had gone. “I’ve got to find them so I’m not completely defenseless out here!” He looked at his fuel meter. He only had a quarter of a tank left. That’s what he got for not refueling sooner. “And we’ve got to get out of here before I run out of gas!” He looked at the radar. It wasn’t picking up any signals. “Celebi must be in another time.” Something rustled in the bushes. Suddenly, a giant Rampardos was hurtling straight at him! He gave a yelp and hit the accelerator. The Rampardos didn’t let up. Then it hit him. “That’s why Entei knew we weren’t supposed to be in this time. This is the prehistoric age!” He came into a clearing. There were multiple prehistoric pokemon scattered about. “That means no fuel even exists yet and even worse… no electronic signal to activate the pokeballs!” The pokemon seemed to have caught attention. Suddenly, vines wrapped around the Rampardos. A Cradily had stopped it in its tracks. The Rampardos struggled but to no avail. Ice sped into the forest again before the Rampardos could break free. “DARK!” he shouted. Nobody answered. This was turning into a hopeless situation fast. What did he do? “I’ve got to find a pokemon that will protect me first off,” said Ice, “I don’t need to catch it, I just need for it to trust me.” He looked around. There didn’t seem to be any pokemon around. He killed the engine to his bike and listened. Suddenly, pokemon started popping up here and there. “It’s okay,” said Ice, “I just want to be friends. Anybody want some pokefood? It’s a special treat that hasn’t been invented yet!” A Kabuto skittered up to him. Ice held out a small bit of food. The Kabuto examined it for a second before grabbing it out of his hand and eating it in one bite. The pokemon then just stared back at him. Ice pulled out another piece of food and the process repeated itself. Ice reached out to touch it. Thankfully, it didn’t skitter away. A roar echoed through the forest. The pokemon scattered. Ice grabbed the Kabuto before it could run away. He jumped on the motorcycle and started the engine. A shadow loomed overhead. “Oh great. Aerodactyl!” He revved the engine and sped off. The Aerodactyl flew over them as they rode. The Kabuto jumped onto Ice’s head and shot off a stream of water. The Aerodactyl seemed deterred by the water. “Great, keep that up!” shouted Ice. Suddenly he skidded to a halt. Dark and Luxray were standing in front of his path! “Where’d you go?!?” started Dark. “Luxray, Thunder Fang on the Aerodactyl!” shouted Ice. Luxray lunged and bit down on the Aerodactyl. It fell to the ground, unconscious. Ice sighed. “There’s a Kabuto on your head!” shouted Dark.
“Yes, I’m aware of that.” Suddenly, the Kabuto started glowing. Ice quickly set it down before it grew any bigger. When it stopped glowing, it had turned into a Kabutops. “Must have been close to evolving,” said Ice. “What happened to you? You were right behind us on the mountain!” asked Dark.
“It’s a long story. In any case, things are worse than you can imagine!”
“You mean the fact that we’re in the middle of the Jurrasic period?”
“Yeah. That and my motorcycle is almost empty. And since there’s no fuel, we’re going to have to find Celebi quick!”
“What do you think happened to Bronzong?”
“I don’t know. And frankly, I’m more worried about how we’re going to get out of here. If we don’t find Celebi before this motorcycle runs out of gas, we’re going to be stuck here for the rest of our lives!”
I forgot to add tags to my previous chapter. And in case you were wondering, yes. I use this space for the stuff I need to say to those reading this story. One thing I didn't mention in the story or the previous chapter, Bronzong is sent back to the present, but unconscious.
Some of you are probably already raising a few eyebrows about Ice and Entei, and no, THAT never happens. Get your mind out of the gutter. But yes, if you're a cat, I'd probably find you attractive, especially anything lion-like (as if it weren't obvious from my name...) or tiger-like. And I do have an Entei folder...
