Godiva: "The Bling Sez It All"
Another random sketch in the sketchbook, just sort of a doodle really (a very elaborate doodle), trying to get a feel for the character. I'd be more creative except that I have the most stunning headache. Maybe better stuff later!

Hee! When it comes to vision, the brain is an interesting machine; looking at patterns, we tend to see what we're *supposed* to see, more than we see what's there. Evenly spaced lines or dots become a "tone". Alter the size of the dots, the direction of the lines, and our brain sees that it's different and "sees" a different tone.
Cross-hatching's not hard, as a skill, just tedious, and after a while you get used to it. You also realize that you don't have to to be very accurate with it, especially on penciled pieces: if you look closely at the images, you'll find that my 'hatching is pretty sloppy in places, but it just lends texture to the image.

oh, i noticed everything of what you just said. It still looks awesome, specially to one who cant draw. I wish I could have something like that of yours in my collection. Traditional work is so heart melting now days. Makes me 3 times more excited to see than digital, because of the time, patients and skill put into a picture without messing up or being able to make mess ups look good and barely noticable.
