It's just my opinion, but I think if you could try making their muzzles thicker and more pit-bull-ish or give them larger C-shaped ears to boost the hyena appearance a bit more. Maybe give them a fluffy mane going down their neck/backs? Lol idk, that's just my opinion though :P

these were all from the same sketch page, so I kind of failed all at once on all of these XD Hopefully the next batch is better. But your tips help! I am finding that I have a better time drawing male Martails because naturally I give them bigger shorter snouts. But when it comes to females, where I naturally want to thin out the snout to make them more feminine, I run into them looking like just a rat or a possum :(
I was thinking about giving them the mane neck thing, but I already have two characters that have that as a feature, and it's damn hard to put clothes on them with big fur tufts on their necks and back... but I dunno. I gotta think of something to save them from too much possum. I think I just need to practice drawing hyenas and possums more so I know what the differences are.

i agree with dog breath, or make her face even more possum, but fluffy sided with the mane and yeah larger ears with maybe semi balding and tipped like possum? my personal thoughts.

I appreciate your thoughts! I just wanna make them LESS possumy/ratlike, so any tips that might help make them look more like a hyena or something that would keep your brain from automatically identifying them as possum, that would help a lot too!

the feet then, make them more paw like but furless, and shortend torso's and thicker bodies would help :3
