I've liked ponies since I was a little tyke. The fact that they gave them a face-lift and some modern flare really throws me back into my childhood. The show is WAY better than it ever was and it's not all too kiddie to the point where you're bored to death like with Dora the Explorer or something. The characters are all extremely strong and have likable personalities, fun colors, cute designs, and teach a message of the value of friendship and being a decent person that anyone can understand and enjoy. I mean, it is a kid's show...but really, what do you find so horrible about the show itself?
I don't find anything about the show horrible per se...
While I will agree that the new show has a more agreeable art style, and the story line is more modern and less chauvanistic, and the characters are more identifiable by the youth of today's generation...
I never watched the show as a kid; always liked Garfield and such. I started seeing things about Bronies and Bronyism and such recently so I figured I would check it out so I would know what it was.
I watched the first 5 episodes of the new show. I TRIED to muscle my way through one episode of the old version; I just could not bring myself to watch something so incredibly chauvanistically girly.
I am a man myself; and I find extreme girliness unsettling. If I were to have daughters I would let them be as girly as they wished to be and would not bat an eyelash at it. It would not bother me then. It would be expected in fact. If my daughters turned out to be Tomboys or even Transexual lesbians... it still would not effect me either way. C'est la vie, the facts of life, and the birds and the bees and such...
I just pride MYSELF on being as manly a man as possible. I cannot bring myself to watch such extreme girliness... it just feels wrong somehow; makes my stomach queasy. It makes me feel as if I am violating Man Law.
While I will agree that the first 2 or 3 episodes of the new series with the fight between the good and evil Sisters was actiony and watchable (sort of) the whole "friendship attack" was just creepy to me. I am a Soldier in the US Army. I don't attack with "friendship". I use bullets and high explosives.
To be perfectly honest though; I am glad they re-made the MLP series. Rainbow Dash will be a perfect gauge, if I ever have a daughter, to figure out if she is a lesbian or not.
Might I present to you exhibit A...
