Spider-girls make great librarians once you install a good shelving algorithm on them. Just be careful reading the books afterwards. Some of them may have... changed.
(I spent most of today getting part of our library in order, including mixing my books most thoroughly with those of my boyfriends. I guess we're married now. Maybe more than married. I've heard of bibliophile couples whose books remained separate for years after marriage.)

Not anything like the one depicted here; we just have a spare bedroom in our apartment, and have shelves against most of the living room walls too.
I organized about thirty feet of it yesterday; there's another thirty feet or so still ruled by one boyfriend's tendency to make these teetering piles of books instead of actually putting them in order. And several boxes full of books. Three thirtysomething nerds have a lot of books, even after one of them repeatedly purged his library, and another lost 80% of hers in a hurricane.
