Hehe he's got an expression of "<.< uh oh... we've been spotted" or "<.< what's he looking at?"
I can tell this turned out to be an HDR photo, but I think that was a good choice for this scenario since the lighting in there compared to outside probably would have blown out the outside if you exposed for out there.

I didn't follow an HDR path.
When I try to do HDR I fail usually. No joke.
But for this I aimed the shot to be dark and did a lot of exposure and changes. Push up the highlights. use the sensor's natural colors to pull off a few things. Then did six layers of effects and changes in photoshop mostly affecting the contrast, clarity, and a few other things
And most importantly removed most of the effects off the characters because they blend in better without it.
