Commission for serenfey of her character, Ruby, as a Jedi Knight who seems to have a bit more darkness about her than your run of the mill Jedi. Regardless of exactly how far Ruby here leans to either side, Dark or Light, I certainly wouldn't want to see her stalking towards me with that level of determination written across her face. Someone's definitely in for a hell of a time. Just in case anyone is wondering, she's carrying two different length blades. The one in her left hand is a regular saber while the one in her right is a shorter blade called a "shoto".

I'm trying to remember what book it was announced in, but I'm not entirely sure which it is. I'm pretty sure it is mentioned in either the Jedi Path book, or Jedi vs. Sith. From what I remember of the extended universe, I'm pretty sure that there was a recent novel exploring it, as well.
It is mentioned on his page on wookieepedia, here - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Qui_Gon_Jinn
I'm sure if you skim it, then you may find the book titles. ^_^

Lucas directs a lot of the books. :S He never gave up control of a lot of the franchise. But, I digress.
The notion that Qui-Gon is a grey is directly derived from The Phantom Menace, just not mentioned explicitly. Obi-Wan mentions Qui-Gon's disagreement with the council and also mentions that his views are part of the reason he's never been granted a seat on the council, which is where the notion was derived from.

Accepting Gray Jedi into the fold of the Order at large seemed to have a lot of different factors at play. The more traditional Jedi obviously were wary of them, but they were kind of regarded with the kind of tolerance most families extend to a stepchild. It depended on the individual and exactly how in the middle of the paths they were.
Lol, well, from what Serenfey has told me of this character, she was a Sith who became a Jedi. Obviously she still retains some of her Sithish tendencies though. We'll have to see what happens with Ruby here. Serenfey has told me she plans to write at least a little bit about her.
I would love to know if the Jedi use a Glavius (Sword-Stick http://www.outfit4events.com/images.....f_1044_LRG.jpg) like Lightsaber.

A very good SW series, I recommend reading it. Kind of a sequel to the Clone Wars Jedi healer series.

now, see, who WOULDN'T want a picture from you? Your art quality is FANTASTIC!!!
I like toony stuff and all, but this is, like...I can't even describe it, this is like the type of picture you mount on a wall and some guy comes to hang out and he sees it and goes "DUDE, THAT'S COOL!" and you just go "Yep..." cause you know he's wondering where you got it or if you drew it yourself UNTIL HE SEES THE SIGNATURE AND FREAKS 8D
I dunno where that came from, but I made my point...you do high quality art, and people SHOULD want pictures from you.
BUUUUT...if you want a bit of a challenge...CAN you draw sergals?

*shrugs* I guess it's just my style. Some people draw them as a fine and tapering point, some people draw them as just blunt beams of light (which makes sense...not like they need to be sharp), and I just kind of mix the two most of the time.
I'm glad you like the boots. Thanks so much.

That's stunning! I can not stop staring at the blood red lighting you have done so well! and you drew her wonderfully aswell! what a spectacular depiction! I do hope you'll keep up the most fantastic work! Plus, I'm super thrilled you've used traditional media for this. I really much see more of your works! Thank you for sharing your fantastic talent and hard work!
Awww, *blushes*, thanks so much! I'm glad you like my traditional media. While I appreciate digital work and all, traditional media is something that just always means a lot to me. While I'd like to get better with photoshop and similar programs, I'll probably always be a traditional artist at heart.
Ruby, eh? Love the name. The fact that she's wielding two lightsabers really reminds me of her, though mine uses the reverse grip. XD
Anyways, I think everything works quite well in this picture. The clothing looks real thanks to how the lighting works with all the folds and wrinkles. Her fierce expression adds more life to the drawing as well. The colors are vibrant as well. I think the lightsabers' light should have had a farther range to where it would bounce off her main body. I would really add more to that fierce gaze in her eyes. Otherwise, really awesome. X3

"I had already made my way past the security and into the interior of the compound. I was within sight of the final set of blast doors when the power suddenly went out. I flipped down my night vision goggles and crept toward the door. Before I reached the panel, though, the relative quiet was split by the sound of blaster fire from the other side of the door. That kicked me into a run; no way was I going to let my mark get himself shot in a coup. I tried the emergency release on the panel, but no good, so I tore off the cover and messed with the wires. Screams from inside hastened my work, and moments later it opened with a hiss. I swung around the corner and hit my tactical light, expecting a room full of guns on me.
Instead, the light fell on a figure in a tattered robe. In the dark, the glow from her lightsabers was almost blinding, and I threw back my night vision to blink away the spots in my eyes. In the second or so that she had her back to me, I saw her short, bright red hair, or maybe it was the glow from her sabers tricking me. Then she turned around, and in the dim red light cast about the room, I finally saw the bodies. I snapped off the tac light and swung my rifle up toward the ceiling, dropping my left hand.
"Friendly," I called out, not wanting to be mistaken for another guard.
Her blades dropped to her sides, but I could still see her muzzle curl into a snarl.
"He's not here," she growled.
"Who?"
"I think you know very well who, Jace."
Stunned, I could only stare at her. She snorted and marched toward me with a look of intense fury etched on her face, the hum of her blades growing steadily louder with every step. It took every bit of control I had not to level my weapon at her. I was sure she was going to add me to her gruesome tally, and I knew there was almost nothing I could do to stop her. Then, just as we came within an army's length, she jerked one hand to her side and I felt myself shoved out of her path. As she stalked by, she muttered,
"You wanna search the stiffs? Be my guest. I have more personal business to attend to."
I looked first at the command room full of bodies and then at the departing Jedi. Somehow, I didn't doubt that we were after the same scumbag, but I checked the bodies anyway. She was right. I didn't like to cancel contracts - bad for business - but I had a feeling she wouldn't take kindly to us crossing paths again.
This angry gray wolf, I later learned, was Ruby. And though we never met again, I have little doubt she survived Order 66."
- Jace Taer, mercenary
I hope you don't mind, serenfey. Your character just looked so angry that I thought I'd make up a tiny story about why.
Wielder, once again, you astonish me with your attention to detail. The tattered cloak is still my favorite part of this piece. It just eminates badass. The red glow from the savers on her fur and cloak are another nice touch. At first, I thought it was blood, which would make just as much sense.
A truly terrifying Jedi. A fantastic piece. Well done!

Lol, I'd quit that job in a fucking hurry too if I knew someone like Ruby thar was my competition. Nothing wrong with running to live another day. Besides, all the credits in the universe wouldn't bring our favorite mercenary/spacer back from the dead. Even though Ruby isn't my character, I certainly enjoyed this, and I'm sure Serenfey would be happy that her character is so inspiring.
I LOVE drawing tattered type things. Fringe or messy hair. That sort of thing is fun even if tedious to draw and color. Still, it always gives a sense of movement, and I love using it when and where I can.
Thanks so much!

Well, for all we know, Ruby here might have two sets of weapons. Wouldn't be the first time a Jedi's done that sort of thing. I'm sure that since she was a Sith before she was a Jedi, it would be hard to give up certain aspects of being a Sith. After all, not all Sith choose that path out of purely evil intentions. More often than not, it's a transformation. Who knows what reasons Ruby seems to be attached to the vestments of her darker days. I'm sure she has them, though.
I too love the lightsaber crystal stuff fascinating. The crystals are as much a part of Jedi culture and religion as a blade was to a Samurai.
