Prompt: Beginning in the Midst
Found this misplaced among some older text documents (summer of '05). I've been wanting to extend it for a while but never knew where it went. The opening line in this piece is from Daniel Handler's 2006 novel 'Adverbs'. I got pretty far into it before I decided It wasn't for me. Later I donated the book to the friends of the sfsu library. I don't have any process notes handy for this one. But I think I wanted to show the surreal intruding on everyday life in a semi-gradual progression. I'm sure I was influenced by the many wonderful books from my childhood that did just that through illustration. Frog Medicine is the froggiest example I can think of but there were others...oh, there were others. Enjoy.
