I found out this morning that my Dad's cat, named Kitty, passed away... He was a real wild beast, a very intense independent cat who knew what he wanted, and wanted mostly sunbathing and lizard hunting. I remember when I visited, he wanted to come hang out with me but it had to be on his terms. He's rest against me on the couch, but get pissed off if I tried to leave! Rest in peace Kitty, give the lizards of the afterlife a run for their money.
I made this small mixed media portrait of my him back in 2008 on a visit to their home in Arizona. I never uploaded it since it was never scanned properly, just photographed. I managed to fix it up some in Photoshop to be more presentable though. I'd like to make a better pet portrait for them of Kitty at some point.

I'm sorry for you and your dad's loss. Its painful to lose a pet, no matter what animal it is.
Last week, I lost both my little hamster and my 13 old dog and since then I've been pondering about making a tribute picture for the both of them. Seeing this, I think I have the strength to make one :)

There's an old children's book that I remember from growing up where the family lost their cat. The kid goes out at night feeling all sad, but he encounters all of the neighborhood cats reminiscing about the cat the passed away; telling funny and amazing stories about him and singing in his honor. Let's see if I can do the cat chorus justice.
"Catter wauler wailey woo!"
