"Remember, the only one worthy to judge a 'mon's worth is the one being judged. It is not important that you impress anyone with your fighting, not even yourself. It is only important that you do not disappoint anyone. Especially yourself."

Grand Fighting Master Huangfeili is one of the greatest and most respected fighting masters in the world despite having never competed in any arena battles in his long life. Master Huang prefers to teach rather than compete, and in his quiet, humble dojo he has done so with several generations of his own family as well as the rare and blessed individual fighting type whom he deems worthy of his instruction.

Master Huang is the grandfather of former world champion turned movie star Jetmonli. Although the Master was somewhat disappointed that his grandson would seek out fame and glory it somehow did not surprise him. His true concern is that his grandson has yet to have any children and the Master grows worried that his ancestral family dojo will have nobody to tend to it when he is gone.

Several years ago a young and enthusiastic Jetmonli brought his sponsor, Felix Blackclaw, to meet with his wizened grandfather, along with Felix's daughter Nicole. After sharing tea and conversation on a variety of topics the old 'mon surprised everyone present when he offered to take on the young girl as one of his students. Felix politely declined, insisting that they were unworthy of such an honor, but Master Huang insisted. "There are fighting types who find true contentment in the finishing of a good book," he said. "I would not train them, but I would not dare to suggest that they are doing something wrong. The spirit goes where it wills, and sometimes it is my duty to guide it."

Nicole trained rigorously with Master Huang for several years, learning many fighting techniques and secret arts known to precious few fighting types, being the first and to date only non-fighting type to train with Master Huang. Although he has not trained her in a few years he keeps tabs on all of his students. Aware of her attitude problems, he only shrugs and says, "A beautiful day is not ruined just because a cloud or two drifts across the sun". Whether his words are birthed of optimism or some deeper wisdom is unknown, although most everyone believes it to be the former.

Master Huang is very traditional and old-fashioned, but the first to part with tradition and make new ones if he feels the need. He possesses a wry sense of humor and wit and dispenses wisdom freely, usually answering questions with other questions. Yet he also knows that, "Sometimes a tree is just a tree". Although he has no official connection with the Poke-Combat Academy of Higher Learning he has been invited as a guest speaker on occassion.
