I’m back from my little vacation! Back and ready to present my latest TRADITIONAL piece of art: “The Final Blow”!
There isn’t really much to say here, is it? The scene shows “Reptile” in action – a fearsome battle with the ruthless Barbarian hordes of the Eastern lands.
I certainly love the reddish colours and the overall battle dynamic. It was very annoying to do “posers” and “character sheets” all the time… so enjoy this new action scene!!
Media used:
Pencils, Inks, Markers, Acrylics (and NO digital stuff this time!)
Working time:
4 days (about 30 hours)
“Reptile Cynrik” is © Patrick Reichel aka
reptilecynrik
NOTE:
My friend
reilsss has done a coloured version of my sketch lately and his choice of colours was a good help/inspiration for my own choice of colours. His idea to use a reddish background (evening burning sky) was very appealing. THANKS, buddy! ^^

Someone said it up there, I couldn't believe at first, was Reppy punching XEVON?! Then I realized, hehe :D
Incredibily strong action pose! Love the forearm armor and the, heh, ripped shirt :D Bloody red background <3
Such a nice view to see you touch traditionals from time to time!

Yay!
The color version.
It looks really good, and dynamic.
But may I ask why the guy who is getting punched's hat has a green color on the little fluff comming from it instead of brown like the others?
In any case, had it been SF, I'd rate it a 5/5, but since it is FA, I will just tell you that it is just simply lovely and you did capture a good moment of action.
And it was all done in traditional art which I highly appreciate from you.

The guy with the white hair has a different hat AND different furry robe, 'cause he's the leader of the troops! ^^
REPTILE did well to attack the leader first, right?
It will appear at "SF" tomorrow or the other day! ^^ Don't worry, it will be submitted everywhere.
THANKS a lot for the comment!

I see how your chest scales aren't wounded, so can only come to one conclusion: You flexed out of that shirt!
Nothing like a powerful lizardman in action - just gets pumped up to the point he doesn't fit his armor or clothes too well, and starts ripping out of them! Hehe
You look wonderfully ferocious, terrifically strong, and completely impervious to pitiful human weaponry. You are the Reptile!

FFS!!!!!!! You are back and better than evAR!!! Now let me see. For starters there is nothing about this image that I do not like but the one baddy in the top left; even though it is supposed to look as if he was knocked out of the way, it looks as if he is about to slap Cynrik on the back. All in all I really love you latest traditional work in months!
*mrau* ^___^ Rawrrrrr, thanks a lot!
About the guy in the top left: you got it right! He WAS trying to slap REPTILE from behind... or at least he's trying to catch REPTILE and keep him from attacking his leader.
So, there is nothing wrong - you figured it all out. ^_^
THANK YOU!

I usually don't comment but I really like this piece, I do do however have to ask/critique one thing, is there a reason that the bracer on his arm is pointed at such an odd angle? I can understand that he appears to be taller than most, but the usual placement of a bracer would be to protect the vital muscles and ligaments that connect to your wrist so that you would not lose the ability to wield a sword, this one appears to be protecting the bone, instead of the tissue.... *grins* is there a reason for that? I understand he isn't human, so his anatomy may be far different, but I'm curious.
besides that, +fav and +watch

Hello, and thanks a lot for the large comment! ^^
About the lower arm bracer: It's mostly meant to be some part of the lower arm armor, which Reptile uses to deflect blades or other weapons. Since he's using a polearm weapon himself, he needs some bracer to deflect other attacking blades.
Indeed, the angle is odd... I think the bracer slided and turned down a little bit... it's usually meant to protect the profile (side) of the lower arm!! ^^"
Also, I guess... I just wanted to draw the nicely muscled arm... and spend less attention to the armor then! :-P
I hope, your question has been answered. If not, ask me again!
Thanks for the comment and the +fav / +watch!!!

Well, the scale texture is something which most people spot at the first sight (and love it instantly). :) As a matter of fact, I had years to develop and perfect it and... I don't think this to be a big deal anymore. ^^" Aaaand nope, the scales don't take much time anymore. I can draw the complete texture lineart in about 10-15 minutes and colour this in about half an hour.
Though, I really appreciate your comment.
Here's a tutorial to learn drawing the scale texture at a very CLOSE UP level:

Well, what else can I say....... the time was worth it! ^^
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
