Inspired by last night's beautiful-yet-ordinary twilight sky. Dedicated to all those who with me share the sometimes-quixotic pain of not being in that place you feel you should be, while having to still work through this life here regardless.
Not only is this my first submission, but my first finished poem. Ever. So be gentle! : ) I welcome any criticism, though I urge you to be kind so that I am not tempted to crawl back under my rock.
For those who care, it is in ballad verse (a line of iambic tetrameter followed by a line of iambic trimeter); and, while the meter was challenging at times (especially at the wee hours of the morning), I must admit it came more quickly than I had originally expected. It was not intended to be so metered at its inception; however, the first stanza came to me in an instant and pre-formatted for that meter, so it seemed right to do the rest that way. : )
