And so this year I decided to write a ghost story for Halloween, choosing Po from Kung Fu Panda and my Kung Fu Panda original character Isao Zhong as the unwilling victims for the night.
It became a bit of a struggle for me to write this. As much as I wanted to go all out with a darker story and ghostly activities I really wanted to write something accessible and kid-friendly, especially since I picked the Kung Fu Panda universe as the basis for the ghost folklore, traditions and settings. But I suppose the end product is satisfying on its own and still kid-friendly while still managing to be creepy and scary.
Research was done on the annual tradition of the Ghost Festival and of the Ghost Month in China, in addition to ghostly folklore as well. I'd suggest researching into them as well for maximized enjoyment as you read.
