Yes, Rod left the city, broken hearted, and ended up in Fairhaven. He brought some rats with him and they established The Mall near Zephyr Inc's building, and it's been working quite well for all involved since. Yay mall rats!

A maser is a type of Laser

Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation

Maser stands for Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

Light and Microwaves both being forms of electromagnetic radiation, and microwaves being lower in power, it takes less power to run a Maser. The problem is that air tends to scatter microwaves badly, leading to death rays with a range of 10 ft.

That is true, but what I meant was that to match effective range with a laser, a maser needs a lot more power, and is more powerful at that range.
