Resident Assistant. Basically when live in the Dorms at college they assign a fellow student to look in on you make sure you aren't breaking the rules and help you if you need it. In exchange RA's typically get free/reduced room a board. But they have to deal with a bunch of stupid 18 year olds that have never lived on their own and are really bad at it. If one of the people in the dorm are breaking the rules the RA is the person you would report it to (if you decided to report it).

All my RAs were pretty cool and at the beginning of the year gathered all of us a round and gave us a speech were they emphasized two things: 1) If you are drunk call me and I'll come get you don't drive drunk. 2) If you are going to break the rules do so in such a manner that I don't have to know about it, because I really don't want to deal with it. But if you are breaking the rules and I caught you I will report you because you being an idiot isn't worth loosing my job.

Most RA's really care, but then you get the tag team that requires a parents attention because they know that there is a male non-student bunking somewhere in the dorm but are too lazy to hunt him down, until my daughter called at 0445 because the bastard tried to rape her when her roommate, who invited him in, fell asleep on him.

I was NOT amused. Took me eleven minutes to make a twenty five minute drive.

Colleges are dangerous places.

How hard can it be to live on your own? I don't do it all the time. What problems do they need help with?

/shrug Normal teenage bs, or any problems with your room mates. I had 2 room mates (at two different colleges) that I had to deal with my RAs on because at the I honestly didn't know how to say: "hey I can hear you pleasuring your self over there while I'm tiring to sleep at night and it weirds me the fuck out. I don't spend much time in this room so please save that activity for when I am out of the room" in a nice way. The first one I got to move out after that the second one I just had to deal with and let me tell ya the next couple of months were AWKWARD.

When we had snow storm that shut the school down they went around and make sure we were all ok. And when we had the armed escaped convicts turned casino robbers (rumor was that they robbed the place after they found out there was no strippers there) that pretty much shut the whole town down for a day they did a head count and brought us food. Because we weren't allowed to leave our rooms. It was like a snow day only with less snow, more SWAT teams and sandwiches. They also keep and eye on you to make sure that you aren't going to wig out and hurt some one or commit suicide or whatever. We had a couple of fights in our halls that they broke up too.

Yeah, for snow days you need lots of masturbation. why would they need to masturbate? did they run out of sex there or something?

I'm a girl and they were girls they did it while they were in bed at night EVERY GOD DAMN NIGHT. It was was like a habit/ritual for them or something and that's fine if you are by your self in the room. But apparently such courtesies was lost on them. Both girls where a bit lacking in the social graces department. Well really lacking honestly they were not particularly nice or friendly and attempting to carry on a conversation with them was like nails on a chalk board. They didn't have really any friends much less boy and or girlfriend that I knew of. They were the type that everyone just avoids even the "do-gooders" that feel it's their duty to make friends with the weird kid.

That is weird, a report said only 60% of girls masturbate, what's the chances you'll end up with two? And omg, every night? That is more then some boys, they must of been real lonely. I should just turned on a light, got a chair and sat next to them and stared at them until they learned to stop doing it when I was there.

I don't hate facebook I just don't want to use it. I've worked rather hard to make sure that there is no connection to my offline self to my online activities and plan to keep it that way. If I want to talk to friends or family I have a cell phone.

It is much easier if you make a false identity online to keep separate from offline. Like you could use your furry name for your facebook so only people from online will know you online.

That's assuming I want to connect with anyone over facebook and I do not.

Honestly this lady seems to act more like the RD than any RA I've met. Most RAs I know are a little more relaxed, and if there's a problem that needs addressing, they report to the RD.
