From the depths of the Dragon's Decadence kitchens, your friendly local Mistress of Desserts presents... a pretty heart cake!
This is a tribute to all of the single boys and girls for Valentine's Day. Either you've never had a relationship, just broke up.. or have been searching for a long time. This is to give a big special <3 to you, darling. I hope all the happy couples enjoy this too.
We all need that special someone that makes life really worth living. But we all have our lonely moments, pitfalls of depression and frustration. However, sometimes finding love is easier than you think. There are great people out there, you just have reach out with a kind hand and a shy smile.
I'll gladly hold it - and be there for you, when you need it. Happy Valentine's Day from your local baking dragoness~ ^.-.^ <3
This is a repost. I know Valentine's Day is not coming up soon. xD

Yellow Cake
- Ingredients -
Baking spray with flour to grease pan
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 1/4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 teaspoons baking powder
3 large eggs
- Directions -
1. Heat the oven to 350F. Spray the bottom and sides of two 9-inch round cake pans with baking spray with flour.
*Suggested: Round pan for bottom layer and Heart pan for top layer.
2. In a large bowl, beat all ingredients with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, stopping frequently to scrape batter from side and bottom of bowl with a rubber spatula. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape bowl. Pour batter equally into both pans; use a rubber spatula to scrape batter from bowl, spread batter evenly in pan and smooth top of batter. (If batter in pans is not divided evenly, spoon batter from one pan to the other.)
3. Bake cakes 30 to 35 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
4. Cool cakes in pans 10 minutes, then remove onto cooling racks to finish cooling completely.
Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
-Ingredients-
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup butter, room temperature
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons milk
-Directions-
In a medium bowl, mix the powdered sugar and butter with a spoon or electric mixer on low speed until well mixed. Stir in vanilla and 1 tablespoon of the milk. Gradually beat in just enough remaining milk to make frosting smooth and spreadable.
Frosting & Decoration
-Directions-
*Attention!~ Please make note of which cake design you chose, heart or round.
Heart Cake
(Requires: Red Food Color Dye)
Place the bottom round layer down first, rounded side up. Spread your frosting over the top and sides. Take your remaining frosting and add a small amount of red dye to it, mix until it's a nice pink color. Place the heart layer on-top of the frosted round layer, be careful about your placement. Delicately frost the heart layer with your pink icing.
Round Cake
For layer cake, place one layer, rounded side down, on a cake plate; using a metal spatula, spread 1/3cup of the frosting over the top. Add second later, rounded side up. Frost top and sides.
Optional: I personally used a thick dark red frosting generally used for cookies to make the cute text heart on-top. Sprinkles are of course optional and can add a nice touch and the extra mini-cupcakes on the side are made from a fudge mix. Contact me if you want that recipe.
Enjoy your special holiday cake, cutiebutt. <3
