Getting onto that time of the year, you know.
The cold time, that is, alla the white crap all
over the place. Yuck.
Different thing when seen through fur eyes,
though. Wolves, all that fur, no problem. But
bunnies?
Oh heck, I'll just let her tell you...

On The Approach Of Winter (#18)
Dead gardens make me sad; first snow has hit.
All green is gone, all white now, flowers grey.
Chill crisp mornings are eased when fire’s lit.
Sun’s bright lick on fur’s better, I must say.
So next year try again? Make it all grow
To boisterous life, reap the new harvest?
The optimism that all bunnies know
Is mine: Spring renews. That time of year’s best.
But making it through winter; there’s the feat.
My kin huddle in deep burrows, and fear
The touch of hunger, frost sucking the heat
From small bodies. Snow means that death is near.
How odd: me too, as gentle fangs love-nip.
The cold time, that is, alla the white crap all
over the place. Yuck.

Oh, just happens to be the number of sonnets a certain obscure
English writer managed to crank out over the course of his career. In
between his playwriting, that is. Won't try to imitate those (for now, but do
have ideas).
No, can't possibly dare to be so vain as to think I can match his
output. Perish the thought, pshaw. Silly idea. Just sonnets about a wolf and a
bunny. How good can that get?
I mean, at one a week it'll take me at least three years to hit 150.
Got a few Canadian winters to survive before that (I really could use some
fur, y'know?). Although I could just flip open the dictionary at random and
boost the productivity a bit.
We shall see.

Thanks. Hugs indeed: part of the idea that inspired this one. In
thinking about these two I've got
NeuroManson firmly
in front-of-mind.
His erotic bunny-and-wolf art aside, this sonnet would do very
well in his ink, I think.

Fur characters are on the line between human and animal. IMHO
this means we get to work with a wider range of attributes, esp. if
the characters are aware of it.
These two characters are, that's for sure. A bunny snuggling up to
a wolf? Oh yah, that means something. If they were human it'd still
be romantic, but wouldn't mean the same thing at all.
Darn interesting genre here. Think I'm going to keep at it for
a while, y'know? :- )
TY for comment.
