It's amateur animation (although the group quickly became pro after this) made for the opening of a Japanese Sci-fi con in 84 or 85 I think. Set to the ELO song Twilight I really loved showing this to folks when I used to do anime stuff at cons. Best of all was getting to tell the Daicon joke. Y'see in Japanese, Dai means big, so Dai-Con means big convention. But in Japanese daicon means radish, which explains the spaceship.
