Probably because it works well visually, but is still one of those more uncommon choices, like light blues with brown tones.

Thats a mighty dangerous and curious looking poker he has there. indeed love for those tails, and I'm liking all the details in the BG of this one a bit more, just for the complexity :3 ..mmh loincloth, but on another note comparing one hand to another(or what we can see of the other hand) is the size of the foreground one a bit too exagerated? buuut that might just be me not picking up the perspective here correctly.

Hmm, I didn't notice an exagguration. The species does have large hands and especially big thumbs, but other than that I am not sure I see it since they are in different distances and poses.

ah yea it was mainly the thumb I was looking at on him, but knowing its more of a trait of the species it looks more correct, its probably just since I had no other hand to look at to make any comparisons on its structuring.

Very interesting usage of more natural materials for a weapon.

The colors are nice as well, certainly hard to go wrong with that palette. :)

The subtle shading for the lighting compliments the picture too for making the background seem more out of focus than the character.

The spikystick reminds me a bit of the pre-Columbian South American "swords", which had a wooden core with obsidian chips for edge.

That's kinda cool. The weapon looks like it's a unicorns horn with blades on it. Either way, that makes him even more badass then before.
