She stopped and breathed. It was cool today, the air having a soft, moist weight to it. She stopped and looked up at the leaves above her. The trees were just thick enough to keep the light from burning away the slight fog that clung around still. One more quiet breath, and she moved again, winding her way deeper into the old forest.
She knew the path well enough. It was hers after all, and she had made the journey often. The soft push of leaves and needles under her paws was accented from time to time with a small snap of a twig. Other then that, it was silent. The silence was good, she needed that most of all.
One last turn around a fallen tree and she could hear the faintest trickle of water. Her ears lifted towards it, and she smiled. This was the place she had been walking to, her personal grounds. As she neared the stream, runes began to glow on a tree. The light from them warmed her from within, and she read the words to herself. Her head lowered to the water, tongue flitting out several times to quench her thirst.
As she lifted her head, feeling soothed from the sweet water, the air around her swirled. She looked from side to side without concern, watching as the swirling coalesced into small lights. Each one gave off a blue glow, sparkling with a bit of yellow when they moved. These were her companions here, these small spirits.
She leaned back towards the water, feeling all tension flow from her into the ground. As her worries washed away, she thought to herself how this was truly her sacred grounds, and she would always have a place to be safe and welcomed here.

Wow, your art improves everytime I see it! The face especially, the shading is very subtle and that's a very big improvement I'm noticing right off. This is why I love your art...everytime you post, there's improvement from the last piece. It's awesome. Every piece is very clearly your style, but your style is evolving and becoming smoother. And it's obvious you're putting a lot of attention into small details, which is wonderful. B eautiful piece. ^__^
8D Thank you so much, Tresh! I keep learning new tricks every time I do a picture - now I'm learning to try and use shading to show details. I agree, the face is my absolute favorite part of this picture!
That is SO COOL! I had no idea I had a style! -Does a triumphant happy dance- Woot woooooot!

I had to stare at this for a long while. Not just because of Madame's face - although I was staring at that for a while, too! - but also the picture in whole.
It may have felt like a LOT of work doing this, but you're really, steadily improving. And this is a great example of that. :)
Keep at it. I'm gonna have to throw some money your way some time later this month to see you draw the fuzzbutt. <3

She's got a pretty face, I stare at it too!
I'm glad that people agree that I'm improving - I've been actually putting effort into drawing. More than my usual, I mean. I think it is paying off! -Laughs- And honestly, this didn't feel like work at all. I enjoyed doing it so much.

I believe that's really the key in improvement. You can practice all you like, but if you don't put effort into it, and enjoy doing it, it's not really going to pay off. And I'm glad to hear you enjoyed working on it - because it confirms what I can see in the picture and forgot to write. Even without meaning to, many artists put their emotions into what they draw. And this has such a relaxed happiness to it. :3
