I think that the kneeling character's head position appears to be having him gaze at the beast's crotch region, rather than up at it's face as someone would if they were surprised and in terror, is what gives us that impression.

Plus, the whole kneeling thing, hand out thing compounds on it. The fact that he was picking roses and got caught, in our dirty minds, also gets missed.

He looks like a rock bird. Must be friendly since the human in this picture isnt dead. ^^'

Damn, Meesh...you did a great job on the watercoloring for this pic, especially with how you applied the lineart and texturing on the beast's musculature and wrinkles/creases on his face. Very impressive with the level of detail you put into the characters' clothing as well, including the creases/folds of the shirts. :)
