I needed a distraction from some projects I'm working on, So heres Phina posed, a simple as a proof of concept with her model, posed by using vertex soft-selections and pivot points (the hard way, no real rigging yet).

Everything I know about Character modeling came from :

Great toutorials are already freely available and are far better quality than I might come up with.
A good source available toutorials on using Blender is BlenderCookie(CGcookie).

Only thing is that 3D is as much Technical as it is artistic - not everyone is able to learn as quickly as I can, and often give up far to early. I must have spent well over 40 hours working on Phina's Figure alone.

I started work the day you offered, That was the only time I could work on it, I've been programming ever since. This here was simply a 2 hour side track from staring at endless lines of Visual Basic Code.
I've got his base figure all in, head to tail, He's at least recognizable, although still lacking any real definition or finer details to his body.

Yeah but I'm talkin 1080p and I want to create a movie which means AT LEAST 25 pictures for each second. a half hour movie would have 1800 sceonds, multiplied by 25 we 45,000 pictures which each would take 15 minutes to render.... that are 675,000 minutes.... 11,250 hours full render time...
Thanks for the visit Lintu -
Pretty, cute and adorable in 3D takes alot of work to even get somewhat close to. I'm simply grateful I was able achieve some of the look of her original refernce. I intend to do even better yet with my next one!
I'm always on the lookout for any new and unique character designs to work with.

Yes, GPUs do lend themselves quite well to Ray Tracing like this. So many major render packages are now also offering a very similar method of rendering.
Octane is great because you can test and change and adjust any camera materials and lighting and see the result in seconds. Makes it good to find and fix settings that work best without having go back and make more full render passes just because your light was slightly the wrong color, or camera was too low.

I'm still here, Yes, things have been quiet. I've started about 3 models, but I've yet to complete them, They really do take so much work to even get half decent, especially when I'm trying to do better each time. I've also been focusing on my time with Neomi - Hopefully this winter I will have something new to show.
