Israel 1948 Jewish Trooper
I oddly had the desire to try something. I drew the Rabbi in Israel in 1948, shortly after independence. I figured I sketch him up as part of the Pal'Machnik of the Portzim Battalion along the 'Burma Road' towards Jerusalem.
Taking on the Arab legions and Egyptian Army, that ragtag bunch , part of the "Negev Beasts" who raided commando style using jeeps ALA the Rat Patrol. Yes, he's armed with a German made K-98 Mauser, how ironic a twist is that? using the weapons that a former enemy used against you.
Sort of a history twist I put the Rabbi in.
I also did this after I had somebody pitch a fit over some far lesser art of Andy Rooney being declared 'racist'. I was about to pull the art to shut the whiner up, but rethought it and kept it up. I'm tired of whiners pitching a fit over political correctness. Plus I remember
KabukiHomewood caught a shitload of flak drawing the Rabbi as a MLP. (Seen here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5890671/)
So, this was drawn a a historical piece. Can't hack that? Then go fuck yourself.

First and foremost, we have to take a little trip down memory lane. Back in the 19th century, when nationalism was on the rise, Jews started developing a sense of nationality of their own. Thus began the story of the Jewish national movement.
The problem with Jews was that they were spread all over the world and had no actual culture of their own to speak of. They had a shared religion mostly and a common liturgical language, but although they often spoke with a local language of their own wherever they lived (Eastern European Jews spoke Yiddish, those from Arabic countries spoke Judæo-Arabic, those from the Caucasus spoke Judæo-Georgian, &c.), but had no common language, save Hebrew, which was used for liturgical purposes only.
Early Jewish nationalists tried to create, practically ex nihilo, a new Jewish identity upon which the Jewish state would be based. Herzl wrote two books on how the Jewish state should be: Der Judenstaat and Altneuland, envisioning a Social Democratic state which is very non-xenophobic (and pretty misogynistic, but that’s besides the point), which is very much based on the way European countries ran, but with some Jewish cultural marks―infant circumcision (he didn’t mutilate his son, but he was cut on his Bar Mitsva after his father had died), the Hebrew language (which was, back then, still a dead language lacking most of the vocabulary necessary for communication in the modern era), and the Jewish religion (he was an atheist) not being among those. Another thinker and his followers thought of the Jewish state, founded on Socialist (more socialist than Herzl) ideals, as a key step towards some global revolution. Other thinkers were more religious than those, and some even thought that this place shouldn’t be a state per se, but more of a spiritual centre. And some thought that this was the beginning of the Jewish eschatological vision which will bring the Messiah and whatnot.
The thing is, this whole ex nihilo thing has some success, but wasn’t a complete one. The bottom line was, there wasn’t a firm base to build anything on that was not religious. The main two Zionist factions, the one lead by the more Europophilic Herzl and the more nationalist one lead by Akhad ha‘Am, went on with their unending struggle over generations―a struggle that persists even today. Herzl was unofficially succeeded by Ben-Gurion, Akhad ha‘Am was succeeded first by Zeev Jabotinsky, and then (when he died) by Menakhem Begin. Ben-Gurion, the staunch Socialist (and a Europhile mostly in the sense that he disliked Jews from Muslim countries), and his movement generally got the upper hand by almost tyrannical means; so up until 1977 Israel was a bit isolationist and treasuring ideals such as austerity and hard work. This caused somewhat of an issue when Jews came en masse from Muslim countries, for whim being moderately religious and adopting stylish European fashion (adopted from the European forces ruling the countries they were from) was the norm. Not to mention they didn’t have the same cultural background the ruling European Jews had, and they spoke Arabic, which was the enemy’s language. This naturally caused a lot of resentment among them, later becoming a key factor of Begin’s rise to power in 1977.
Ugh, I got really off topic here. What I should have said was that the religious population has been steadily growing and has always had some sort of power in parliament, which is mostly growing pretty consistently. The more extreme Ultra-Orthodox Jews have often got the less extreme national religious ones to look up to them, and even non-religious Jews have, even if it was mostly unconscious, regarded them as the ones who are really perserving Jewish tradition, which the modern movements haven’t really succeeded at replacing. So the strongest characteristics of the modern Israeli Jewish identity are the cut cock (grrr...), the pure blood (Jews have a strange and often shocking relationship with the idea of mixed marriage; according to Israeli law, marriage is performed via religious services, so no civil marriages, and hence Jews cannot marry non-Jews in Israel and often fly to Cyprus to get a civil marriage), the Sabbath (did you know that there is no public transportation on the Sabbath in Israel? Even though most Jews don’t observe it...), and the military service. The saddest part is that religious Jews have much more children and get an increasingly stronger influence on this country, partially through stupid people adopting religion.

Also, I should point out that Orthodox Judaism is a force for evil, pure and simple.
Apparently the planes were loathed, too. The pilots were all British or American, and had been trained on Mustangs and Spitfires! On the 109, everything was 'muscle powered', the narrow track landing gear 'could only have been designed by a Nazi', and the fuel intake was behind the exhaust - meaning that if ground crews refuelled the aircraft carelessly via fuel cans, you could set the spilled fuel all over the wings on fire with the blow-back from the exhaust when taxiing for take off...
Apparently the aircraft to kill for were the Italian 'Veltros" that the IDF acquired. A small group of pilots seized them and flew nothing else. The British pilots in particular laughed at them, having no opinion at all of anything Italian - and then one day some pilots came over to find out why these damned things were so jealously guarded...
- Apparently the cockpit detailing was all done by Italian sports car manufacturers. The instrument panels were wallnut - the cockpit trim was leather, and the whole thing had a "new car" smell...

Trust me, I got some people who only had balls to sent me hate mails for a few things I drew. I am certain that they created their accounts just for that and the name showed up ain't for real.
I think they dread the ideas of real confrontation that this is all they can do.

The Egyptians were no jokes and the things Israelis pulled off were truly remarkable and textbook material for all military academies . Seriously, I'd much rather seeing the Arabian alliance to bring their gears to fight the Commie Bastards who looks like me (Chinese Commies that is). Bah, such pipe dream.

If the Rabbi sees a Norseman or Spitfire or Czech BF-109 (Avia S-99) overhead, it just might be my Uncle Philip:

The Italian desert combat uniform, or sahariani was rated as the best desert wear by both British and Afrika Korps soldiers, who would wear them whenever they managed to acquire stocks. And it came with shorts. And note, that the soldiers in the field were the ones of that opinion, the folks who saw all the worst the desert had to offer.
I'm wondering if I can draw this version of your fursona with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:L.....ay_station.JPG
You may appreciate the work I'm about to do, even after I take some time to research the colors of the uniform and the other existing locomotives like it.

You're not the only one to draw your fursona in a uniform like that; I once drew mine wearing the uniform of the great Irish Revolutionary leader, Michael Collins: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12988448/
