Went to the Renaissance Faire with
roaringlion and
elliedachshi and I picked this up from a vendor.
A replica of a Greek Kopis (Falcata in latin). The sword was used in a chopping motion during close combat. It wasn't the standard issue for the Spartan army during the classical period, but was more common amongst all Greek forces later on.
Fairly cheap but it'll go well with my costume.

The Falcata had its origin in Spain and was pretty famous among the Greeks as you said. Also did the Romans use it, as a partly influence of the Greeks I think.
The Spartans on the other hand used the so called Lakonian Sword http://www.aurorahistoryboutique.co.....ts/A000042.jpg
