Well, lookie here. One of my sketch dump sketches was actually resurrected and finished!
This is my long-planned revamping of my other Diskylios character, Morithax. You've seen her in a few other images before, with sorta orca-themed black and white markings. Well....I didn't like them. Too swirly and cute for her character. Morithax is a monster, plain and simple. She needed markings that reflected it. So here you go. A skull and rib-bones. I think I'll draw in my character's markings from now on, rather than paint them in. I think they look better, ultimately, when the image is colored.
Someday I'll compose Morithax's history. But basically she is Ankara's "creator". Diskylios do not reproduce the old-fashioned way. When a Diskylios "evolves" or otherwise changes in response to its environment, the changing parts of its body rot and fall off. If the rotted piece is big enough, said piece will eventually regrow into an entirely new Diskylios. Ankara happened to appear out of an entire skull that Morithax lost in order to form the head she has now. Morithax is the only Diskylios strong enough to lose such a significant part of her body and still survive the process. The two of them hate each other, and usually spend their time denying the other's existence. But the "family" resemblance is still there. The stripes, the wings, the shape of the head, the horns...they can't deny each other, despite how much they want to.
Morithax is dangerous with a capital D. The color white is a taboo among most demons. Demons who have white anywhere on them are usually almost immediately killed off. Morithax is so strong and vicious a fighter that she has survived millenia with her very obvious markings, and that has made her infamous. She is feared now rather than despised for them. Like Ankara she has no master, and simply serves whomever she chooses. She is known for switching sides during a battle as the mood strikes her, so any demon overlord who contracts her into service has to be very careful to make sure they keep hold of her alliegance.
Hopefully I'll draw her more in the future.
