Does that diagram represent the entire airship, or is it just the heavier-than-air part?
And on a very vaguely related topic, have you read Vernor Vinge's "Zones of Consciousness" series? This picture reminds me of the latest instalment, which I'm reading now. Basically, it involves a steam-age canine race trying to bootstrap itself to a higher technological level with the aid of humans. The canines are nothing at all like regular furries, though.

Thanks for the clarification.
I don't know if you read much sci-fi, but if you do, I'd recommend A Fire Upon the Deep and Children of the Sky, in that order. They both touch upon subjects you've covered in your comics, such as artificial intelligence, engineered races, and the like.

The beauty of airships is that they are, by nature, Big. And radiation can be dealt with either by shielding or distance. Shielding can get awfully heavy, and undesirable for a weight-sensitive machine like an airship, but hanging a reactor 400 or 500 feet away with only a little bit of shielding right around the crew position can do the deed.
