Well i think I'm just going to upload chapters whenever I'm done finalizing them from now on, anyways here's the story, by the way does anyone know how to get the story to be read on FA instead of putting the story into the comments? <<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Chapter 6
2 nights ago.
After his feast Dashed went into the abandoned house to look for a place to sleep, he found that the couch had been scratched several times, in fact it wasn’t even a couch, it was just a huge fluff pile. The bed was the same way. Dashed concluded that a pack of some kind of animal, probably a pack of dogs, had been here for a short while, and since he was used to sleeping on hard surfaces he choose to sleep on the floor. He laid down, put his tail to the side, and tried to go to sleep.
Dashed was just beginning to fall asleep when he heard a rustle in the bushes next to the house. He quickly rose to his feet and pulled out his pistol. He slowly opened the sliding door and took aim at the bushes. Dashed waited for 30 second and was just beginning to holster his pistol when the bushes rustled again, quickly he pointed his pistol once more at the bush. He only had to wait three seconds before a fox came running out of it half yapping half barking. Dashed felt incredibly relieved, but then the same sound answered, and then he heard another, and another, and another. Shortly there was an uncountable amount of barking/yapping. He felt a paralyzing fear.
“Stop standing around and run you idiot .”
Whether it was the voice or just common sense didn’t matter, Dashed was more than happy to oblige. He had just ran down the driveway where his house was when he looked to his left and saw several other foxes running towards him. He took a quick pot shot at one of them, even though he missed, and ran to the auto part building next to him. Before he could even cross the street a fox suddenly jumped towards him and bit his arm. Dashed instinctively lashed out his arm and the fox went flying. He could tell that they meant business. He ran into the auto repair shop and hid in a dark corner. Outside the foxes were getting louder and louder. Scared and in the dark Dashed quickly hid behind the counter. He backed up into the corner further until he hit a shelf and a can fell, making a loud sound.
Not five seconds afterward a lone fox poked his head into the shop. Dashed’s heart stopped, it seemed his breath was getting louder and louder. All of his instincts told him to run but he just curled up into a smaller ball and prayed that the fox wouldn’t find him.
Well your dead now, nice knowing you. Why don’t you just hold still, it’ll be a lot less painful.
For once you’re right if that fox finds me the rest of them will surly come at the sound of me screaming.
Then his worst fear came true, the fox started to trot towards him. Dashed just felt utter despair and fear knowing that this was the end. He could see it a little more clearly now it had brown eyes with a little reddish fur than most foxes and had a little white streak on the top of its head, the fox came up to him, Dashed closed his eyes, he had heard that it made death less painful. The fox came right up to his face opened his, or hers for that matter, mouth and gave him a short lick, right on his nose. Dashed nervously opened up his eyes, shaking as he turned his head, the fox just kind of stared at him for a while. Dashed reached out a paw and the fox smelt it and quickly ran out the door yapping and barking.
Here comes the rest of the pack, goodbye world I’ll see you on the other side. Dashed thought
Outside he saw the fox running down the street yapping and barking. However, instead of going into the shop the fox ran right past it, and so did the dozens upon dozens of other foxes that were chasing after him. Dashed couldn’t believe it, they were going right past him and there were a lot of foxes. Once the last fox ran out of sight Dashed waited thirty seconds and then ran out the door and continued down the road. After about a half mile Dashed slowed down a bit. He leaned on a light post and panted heavily.
"What just happened?"
Dashed just stood there, panting and trembling, and thought about what the @#!*% just happened. The fox that wondered into the shop ran past the store leading the other foxes way from Dashed, but why?
Oh, I get it, the fox must of liked me and spared my life.
Dashed internally thanked the fox for not killing him. He set off down the road once more when he realized that he couldn’t go on. He would need at least a day to recover. So even though he wanted to get as far away as possible from Young’s Lake he decided to, once more, find a house and just sleep there. However he didn’t get far before his body gave way and he collapsed by the side of the road. As he laid there he didn’t know that not two miles away a singular fox was heading toward him
