This one took about 30 minutes or so because I didn't bother adding true fur to her body. :) With the fur it probably would have taken about 45-60 minutes.

Actually pretty low for what I do, but Lightwave does give a lot of love when it comes to quick render times. My computer is a 3-4ghrtz with 4 gigs of ram, Windows XP (I won't upgrade because Windows 7 eats up more memory so if you have 8 gigs and Windows 7 you technically only have 3-4 gigs of ram available for processes), Nvidia card with 1 gig of ram on that and a Pentium 4 core. XD

I should get into using the rendering engine O: maybe you could help me out when the time comes :D which won't be a little while

Are you using Lightwave? Usually you just hit the renderer and it takes it from there. I turn off a few things to speed up the process but most render engines use about the same ideals. Like in some if you turn off HDRI lighting it'll render much faster.

I don't have Lightwave, is there a demo or could I download a free copy? I should try other related programs that uses rendering stuff

I don't know if they have a trial or anything like that. I'm still using an old copy (not enough money to upgrade again and if it's not broke... Don't fix it.).

You're using Blender, right? I haven't gotten in to that much (I've turned it on... Looked at it... Turned it back off and never opened it again. XD ). Anyhow, how long does a scene take to render in it? I've heard they're fairly fast but I might check on the settings to help you optimize them so you can render faster. (A lot of things aren't really needed in rendering and only bog systems down... Like HDRI lighting... Triple Filtering... Etc.) So, when you turn off things like that that aren't crucial to rendering it helps to speed up the process. For example... I use 1 light and turn off a lot of raytrace options. Raytracing bogs a system down and I can't really tell a difference between raytraced and non really.

really? interesting, I never really focused much into the rendering scene of blender until lately I got curious, atm I'm using blender 1.49b I didn't like the new blender due to the missing mouse drag/rotate/pan/resize where you could draw a cirlcle for rotate, a zigzag for size, and a drag for moving.

I agree with that Motto there "not enough money to upgrade, if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I never been a fan of feature bloated programs and I used to have a 50MB copy of adobe photoshop CS4 :C those were in my backup archives that suddenly died for no reason at all.

I guess I never got bit by the blender bug because I had bought my Lightwave in college and kept upgrading it throughout the years. I figure since I paid good money for the program I'd be wasting it to move on to a free program. I hate wasting anything, and I don't go in for Warez programs since I used to work as a programmer and know how much of a pain it is to have someone just come through and steal your work. :( Which is why I make models, animations, and pictures now instead. (And the occasional website and crap like that. ) I still work with Photoshop CS2... Although, I'll upgrade eventually, but the price needs to drop more or I find a nice deal on amazon and have extra cash.

But checking your render settings and turning off un-needed stuff always helps render faster. And as long as you don't ever go to Poser you're golden. Because Poser has one of the world's worst render engines I've ever seen. 12 hours for a 2048 x 2048 picture is insane. But I've been told that's usually how long it takes with that awful firefly engine.

What do you mean by model used? I create my own instead of using that readily available Krystal model that everyone uses...

And this is amazing in itself - because, let me be blunt, "that Poser model" as it's commonly referred to is of noticeably poor quality, at least in my amateur opinion, yet you are the only other person I know of to make their own version of K.

I agree that the model that is used by everyone uses is very bad. If you point that out to the people who love it however they FREAK out on you. I once mentioned that the model's hands have a pudgy look to them and don't have the shape of a real hand. I'm not going to go in to the body, breasts, or legs... And the feet... So flat and non appealing. XD

But the reason I made my own Krystal is because I was building the entire cast. I haven't begin making many of the villians yet, but I do plan on it. But then people asked if I was going to release mine, and I said maybe... (But then my Krystal is rigged for lightwave and not poser and rigging for poser is like pulling teeth since it's rigging system is garbage.) And then all hell broke loose people screaming that there is only one Krystal... (The ugly one.)

Because of that... I was more than hesitant to even post a picture of my version here. (But I rather have nice looking models than models that can do little more than smile at everything.) XD

I'll keep observing, in that case...as for villains, well, other than the neutral-if-evil-by-choice-of-employer Star Wolf team, I assume you're talking about Andross, perhaps two old members of Wolf's squad, that traitor Pigma and Andross' nephew, and of course the man whose sole purpose seems to mess up Krystal's private parts, General Scales.

Oh, you definitely are worth watching if that's what I'm in for.

I've been working on General Scales just for the sole purpose of having him impale Krystal. Because it would be funny to see her trying to get over that pole vault.

Anyhow, yeah, the only villian (or 1/2 villian) I've finished is Wolf so far. But I plan on making everyone else as I think about them.

I haven't really thought about Kat or Fay. Mostly, because they're fairly plain in coloring and look. But I probably will create them eventually. But I believe that Krystal doesn't deserve all the attention or praise she's always getting. I mean I do hate when people say she should have been a playable character in Smash Bros Brawl. I just sit back and say... Why?! To me... She's a worse co-pilot than Slippy. I would actually rather have Slippy as my wing man than Krystal. XD

But I might do a picture of Falco with Fay or maybe even giving Krystal the treatment. XD I'm not exactly sure.

Ah, yes. Krystal as "Slippy with boobs", that wording might have been coined, if not, then at least frequently used by a friend of mine, being a Star Fox veteran, or, as he calls himself, fanatic. I guess he'll never have his wish, though, Fara Phoenix returning.

As for Krystal, I'm really surprised people still commission porn of her with Fox McCloud, seeing as she's turned into the official whore of the fandom, next to Renamon, and maybe Amaterasu, and every semi-sentient being left on the Internet wants every other semi-sentient being left on the Internet to notice that.

LOL! Well, Renamon and Krystal are two of the top furry females that it seems that most people fantasize about. I take on a lot of commissions for those two more than any others. I'm actually glad that FA seems to be one of the places where you don't see the big headed Krystal model, because frankly I was sick of seeing her everywhere. The model is not an accurate representation of the actual fur. But I hate her voice, mannerisms, and the way she's portrayed by the fandom at large. Although, I will not put her or any other woman with Fox McCloud. XD I think it's just because I don't like to give people what they want. ;) Unless they pay for it.

No, you'll never see WolfXFox or FoxXsomerandomguy from me. I just don't see Fox as needing some bimbo. I think Krystal was wrong. Dinosaur planet should never have been a star fox game. Sure, it brought a lot of attention to the series but the thing that burns my tail is a few times when I talked about SF to people they said... Oh, you mean that blue fox? I was like... What? WHAT?! WHAT?!!!

I can see that, and actually thought of it as your answer - mainly because I agree with you on that one.
Fara might've been an option, but I doubt Fox would ever...no, it just doesn't seem fit. While I can imagine McCloud as being the type who would not remain an eternal virgin I'd say he won't need it anywhere near as often as the male stereotype, which he seems to be to the fandom.

As for Krystal, yes...she should've stayed that cat thing that sounds like a nine-year-old, either that, or simply be forgotten. As far as I've heard she has already been forsaken by Miyamoto and is unlikely to appear in the next StarFox game.


Eh, I'd rather sum up my view on the Star Fox characters' sexuality, and, if possible, relationship options and behaviour so far - better than descending into rants again.
Fox needs stability, being without a family, but he'll never, ever, develop any stronger sexual needs or urges.

LOL I agree with some of those except Wolf. I think of him more of if someone offers it he'll take it no questions asked. But Leon and Slippy I see as gay even if they gave him frog bitch in SFC. Which in my opinion isn't part of the series. I'd refer to that more as someone's fan fiction made in to a game. Especially since they changed the design of everyone and gave them big heads.

Also it would be good and very right of Miyamoto if he left Krystal gone. She's tainted the series enough. I say the next game if there is one should start right after SF64 and should start off with Fox waking up and everyone telling him he's been in a coma for years. Essentially he dreamed Krystal up. I have to say I don't have a favorite character. They usually get equal treatment from me to a point. I just try not to think of Slippy when I can help it... However, his constant crying in the games is enough to make me really dislike him.

Oh, Wolf's had his share of people throwing themselves at him. XD But they're fans not actual game characters. So, I thought that his personality would be pissed off, uncaring, but he'd have sex with whomever (probably even men) just because he's flattered by the offer. But that's my thoughts on his personality since he isn't exactly a fleshed out character...

Meh, I wouldn't so much as give Krystal an ending... I'd just act like she never happened. But that's me and I'd deal with all the hate mail from the rabid fans when she didn't return. Really, I didn't hate Krystal in the beginning. I did get annoyed by her voice with the choo-loos and knuck-knuck speak in the beginning of dinosaur planet... But I could deal with that... What made me hate Krystal is what all of her fans turned her in to. They completely took the character and destroyed it. They gave her every personality from Virgin to Bimbo to complete whore. The fans and that awful Poser model are to blame for my hatred of Krystal.

Not only that but I quit rendering or even modeling her because of the rabid fans of her. So, she's one character that I won't be rendering or making pictures of. As for these "rabid fans", I must say I know one, and only one. And if we're talking about the same person I can safely tell you from bad humour to temporary insanity you could've triggered anything with your work, and he is, for his own sake, to be disregarded.

There was more than just one fanatic. (People asking for her to be with this character or that character, or their own fan made characters. Bitching about her being with Krystal in a pic. Climbing through the roof over the color and look of her arwing...) So, that whole ordeal was enough to make me swear off creating that type of fox altogether. I'd rather create art that most people like than to have people either knit-picking over details, or obsessing over a character. Enough folks obsess over Krystal as it is. XD

Which is why I'll only do commissioned pictures of Krystal for the most part. I'd probably do commissions of Fara but the few fans I've met are far too knit picky about the model. (And since she never had a model... It's hard to say how Miyamoto would have had her designed.)

Personally I'd say, no matter what you do, there will be complaints, so just do everything at least once, then you've pissed off enough people to enjoy the ensuing schadenfreude.
