When I'd attended the funeral of Hungarian-born Lya Korda (on September 25, 2011), attendees were asked to take a little bit of her home - in the form of some of her art pieces...
I took home two works of hers, one of which ("Ballet Dancers") I'd posted here a few weeks ago - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6567606/
In memory of Lya, who I had an association with over the years - as we were both members of "Scrabble Club 276" - I'm posting the second work during my 'sweeps month' presentation.
Besides being a good Scrabble player (for someone in her nineties), Lya was also a talented artist, as well as a long-time member of MENSA. During her final years, living in Florida, she contributed cover art to "Brow Beat" - the official newsletter of the Broward County branch of MENSA. And since the official mascot of MENSA is an owl, she drew anthropomorphic versions of the very wise bird for most of those cover pages.
The posted image was an unused example of her cover art talent, proposed for a December issue of "Brow Beat" - with the message of 'Love', 'Peace', and 'Merry Christmas', written in the open circle surrounded by a flock of owls (one of which, on the left, holds up a banner with the MENSA logo).
During November, I'll be posting a few more incredible illustrations from the late Lya Korda - a talent that will sorely be missed...
