The first portrait of my dog I've been happy with XD I LOVE brindle but the unfortunate side-effect is that the camera never wants to focus on him! A winter background of dead-plants makes that a little easier I guess!
This captures well his ever-concerned expression and his slightly derpy ear.

I once found a stray female pit who looked like this... and I would have taken her home with me too but I'm pretty sure my landlady would have kicked me out for bringing another dog home (I already had a st bernard mix who was regrettably confined to the yard due to landlady's mandate). Of course, I also had a pit like this for a few years in the desert before we had to rehome her due to the addition of new dogs (a dog we thought fixed dropped 11 puppies)
Fuck I need a new dog....
At least some place I can even keep one...

This reminds me of my dog Tiger they look very much alike. Tiger was a bit heaver and blocker. I often called him brick doggy. Because he was built like a cinder block with teeth, and was about as hard too.
As for focus use manual focus setting and dile it in yourself. that is the only way I found to do it.

Oh yes and did I mention some times I thought him almost as smart as a brick.
But he was fun the day I watched him teach my Daughter's Spaniel how to chase chickens I had to sit on the porch because I was laughing so hard i would have fallen down.
I had him 14 years he died in my arms the Fall of 2002.
