My friend is a very active member of the 501st and the Sac Valley Rogue Force. He got married with his lightsaber at his side xD His bride picked up her passion for Star Wars from him ^__^
As for R2, he was built by a friend of the groom. I had a moment to speak to him and he's running two digital 12 channel transmitters for triggering audio clips, and a standard R/C transmitter for control. He doesn't have a microcrontroller in there yet, but had an Arduino built in his shop ready to be installed.
I couldn't pass up a chance to get a photo taken with him ^^
