No, not the blood of a baby, but rather, a baby blood python! Specifically, a python curtus brongersmai - a malaysian blood python, also known as "short tail python".
He's not been named yet, but his name will be his name is Spangler, in keeping with my blood python naming scheme - after a candy company. Why candy? because they are SOOOO darn sweet! Got him at the Rocky Mountain Reptile Expo yesterday (November 12th, 2011), for the steal-him price of $70.
Photo today taken on my desk, illuminated only with my desk lamp, goosenecked over in close on the glass surface. Photoshop manipulation only of the background, to blur and distort some distinct images that made it less interesting. Lens caught some great tongue, which is reflected in both the upper and lower sufrace of the glass, as is his silhouette.
He's about 18 inches long, and under 6 ounces in weight. TINY. He'll get to about 4-5 feet long as a full grown adult, but as with all bloods, chubster super thick. Unlike most juvenile bloods, he's got a fantastic personality already. No bitey, no escapey, no rude behavior at all. Just likes to sit and chill. When he's in his enclosure, he just likes to hide under Pim's old fake-rock-cave-thing.
Sweet, eh? :)

pinkie mice weigh about 1-2 grams each. A full size adult male mouse about 30-40 grams. he can easily feed now on 10-15 gram young adult mice - probably start him on one every 10-14 days. if he's got a good appetite, he can grow pretty fast at that rate - though I have no intention of "power feeding".
Thanks for looking! :)

There are three distinct color/genetic variants for blood pythons:
python curtus curtus - mostly black, faint pattern visible
python curtus brongersmai - Malaysian blood, the reddish ones (incorrectly called sumatran blood pythons)
python curtus breitensteini - Borneo blood, they are mostly brown hues, faint reddish on some specimens
All are non-venomous constrictors, as are all pythons. They don't crush prey, but prevent prey from breathing in, tightening with each out breath.
Spangler is a brongersmai, and should develop deep reddish hues as he gets older :)
