Wait....those are Personal characters? For a website promo you're using personal characters? That seems kinda wrong, unless of course they own the con or something. Which I highly doubt.

I mean sure taking pictures of fursuiters and using those makes sense, thats photography, but literally making an entire con about 2 peoples characters.....Thats just senseless.

Well I don't see why its any reason to get all in a huff about, but no, the con is not about these two particular characters. They are, however, quite well known at Wild Nights, and the guy on the left does run quite a bit of it. Its all meant in good fun, and no one else seems to be taking offense other than you. Just laugh at it or move on.

Honestly I'm not really in a huff, just sharing an opinion.

Just FYI I suggested to Luthien to try to use as many of the attendees of the con as possible and MLP them to give the con a more personal look.

The one on the right has been in other promo pics...he's very well known at the con. However I do find it a little unfair. I think Wild Nights should create it's own mascot like TFF did.

I'm going to use the little grey and black pony I did in the other pic as the official mascot, if we really can say we have one. She's gonna go on the tshirt. :) I just put Oki and Calamity on this since they're well known figures, and I needed something quick cuz it was a spur of the moment idea. Didn't think anyone would actually take offense to it.
I do have a lot more art to do for promo though, so other characters/species will have a chance to have some spotlight as well.

Well I know that some people don't exactly like Oki (not sure about Calamity) it all leads back to his pack stuff. I don't feel like getting into the details right now though :/

Yeah you guys bring that up every time, but the thing is, I DO like Oki, and I'm not going to get into the middle of the drama, nor am I going to let it effect what I draw or what I do at cons. If people want to sulk, they can certainly do so, but I'm not going to cater to it.

I don't think you'd like Oki if you weren't accepted by his pack. People on the outside of his pack tend to not like him because they feel worthless and small at cons. This con is becoming very biased in my opinion and will probably start losing attendees.

I'm not part of his pack, I'm simply friends with him and a lot of the people that are in the pack. The fact of the matter is, no one from that group has ever done anything to me, so I have no reason to hate anyone thats in it. I don't get butthurt over the fact that I'm not part of Sinners and Saints, I don't feel excluded, I don't feel like I'm less because I'm not in the group. I stay neutral within all this drama between them and whoever else because its not my business and thats how I choose to remain. I don't base my friendships with people on how popular they are and I hope that no one would treat me differently if the "cool kids" started hanging out with me.

I know you are not a part of it, however you are not shunned by it. I am friends with (I guess) a few members of his pack but when it comes to me wanting to visit them during cons, I am not allowed in their cabin or anything. It is getting very old. Last time I checked we are all adults and this is not high school. I dealt with this all when I was in school and hoped that when I found others like me I would get away from all of this favortism and such. My first year of Wild Nights was the best thing I had ever been to. I was not in his pack but I was certianly not shunned or ignored. After that? Well every year I feel less and less welcome to the whole cons themself. It's getting bad, to the point of not wanting to go to cons because I have no one to hang out with.

I understand that and I'm sorry that it has turned out that way for you. If it makes you feel better, I've never been invited into the cabins either...but then again, there are a lot of people who go to Wild Nights that I barely know still. I'm hoping that after being GOH there that might change. I'm shy so it takes a bit of pushing for me to come out of my shell and get to know people.
Getting back to the original point of this thread though, its just a picture, and I really don't see why its worth anyone getting upset over. I used Oki and Calamity as the subjects for two reasons: 1, they are the ones I've most often seen in promo stuff for the con, and 2, I thought it would be funny to see how much glitter and hearts and pink cutesy stuff I could get away with putting them in. Its meant to be lighthearted and fun, not to upset or make anyone else feel left out. Its been blown WAY out of proportion.
